Description - Bed and breakfast

Vila de Alenquer, better known as Vila Presépio, is in the Western Region, a region of extensive vineyards and hills crowned with mills between a martime coast with extensive beaches and the beauty of the Tejo river.

Quinta do Covanco´s excellent location – at the entrance to Vila de Alenquer and 30km from Lisbon – allows you to have a thoroughly deserved few days´ break as well as getting to know other historic sites that are worth visiting such as Lisbon, Cascais, Estoril, Sintra, the Mafra and Queluz Convents, Óbidos, Nazaré, Alcobaça, Tomar, Fátima...

Quinta do Covanco dates back to the XIX century and is marked by a rural architectural style derived from the agricultural activities my grandfather performed in the past, namely vines. This imposing infrastructure was adapted to provide every comfort and a family atmosphere to those who visit us.

The farm features 6 double rooms (each with en-suite bathroom, telephone, heating and satellite TV), a lounge with open fireplace, a piano and bar and a games room.

Neighborhood

Alenquer is a privileged space between the Tagus Valley region and West Coast of Portugal, where there are several old farms and solar, with green fields covered with vineyards. Here we produce the best wines of the country, their homes on steep amphitheater make Alenquer known as Vila Presépio, and their natural points of reference Montejunto Mountain and Tagus river.

Fertile land and great strategic value, between the Montejunto Mountain and the right bank of the Tagus, was the region of transition and occupation by many peoples who inhabited the Iberian Peninsula. There are many archaeological remains that attest the people presence, from the Paleolithic to the "Metal Age", from Roman´s occupation to the Arab.

How to get there

Quinta do Covanco is located at the entrance to Alenquer, only 3 minutes from the A1 motorway and 20 minutes from Lisbon.

Coming from Lisbon or Porto along the A1, you must take the Alenquer/Carregado exit.
After the toll, carry straight on toward Alenquer, across the IC2.
At the first roundabout, near Alenquer, take the first exit to the right, then left and right once again.
Quinta do Covanco is the first property on the left (there are two centenary plane trees at the entrance).
