Description - Hotel

Swara Plains Acacia Camp is just 30 minutes from Jomo Kenyatta International airport or 36 Kms from Nairobi, nestled in a glade of shady Yellow Fever trees on the Kapiti Plains opposite the rugged Lukenya Hill. It is fully contained within a privately fenced 20, 000 acre wildlife sanctuary and hosts a resident population of over 3, 000 game animals and over 270 identified bird species.

With such an accessible location, this magnificent piece of African Savannah provides an experience not to be missed. The sanctuary is home to many species of animals: Cheetah, hyena, bat eared fox, jackals and many plains game including Zebra, Eland, Oryx, Giraffe, Ostrich, Impala etc.

Swara Plains Acacia Camp offers comfortable rustic accommodation. There are 13 cozy little bandas each with their own en-suite bathroom and 5 tents. The main mess area is open with views of the garden.

How to get there

  35 kms from Nyayo Stadium roundabout on the Mombasa Road
  Dual carriage way ends at Athi River and it’s another 8 kms to Acacia Camp turn off
  Pass Green Park housing estate on your left
  Pass Primarose Flower Farm on your right
  Pass Daystar University/LuKenya Getaway turning on your left
  Look out for fence made of blue plastic water bottles on your right (turning half way up)
  On brim of hill, take the next turning right, immediately after bus stop on right. (Same turning as Small World Country Club – big banners saying “Live Band on Sunday)
  If you reach Simba cement factory, you have gone too far! Turn around and then it’s the first on your left after Simba Cement.
  Follow the dirt road straight until you reach the gate for the Game Ranch
  Go straight over the dam, at corner go left and keep straight until you reach camp
