In 1526 Maharaja Chandrasen of Amber Granted his force to help Raimal Shekhawat of Amarsar to fight against
Hindal. The army was led by his elder son Yuvraj Kumbha. Brave Kumbha defeated Hindal but sacrified his life. Then Amer was divided in two parts and mahar was awarded the Heriodatory title of Rawat
In the 17th century when the foundations of Jaipur were laid, the area where the Mahar Haveli stands was gifted to the Kumbhawat rulers of Mahar by the Amber state. This part of haveli Built as a retreat for the guests and dignitaries, today, the Haveli lets its guests travel back into those glorious medieval times, offering them a comfortable stay in economy class amidst plush traditional ambience and décor.
This part of Haveli was built in the Rajput architectural style, replete with narrow passages and well ventilated chambers with individual temperature control systems. The Haveli was recently renovated and refurbished to accommodate all the modern amenities & facilities for the money.
The mahar haveli stands in older part of pink city. Here one can still see the remnants of the old Stone walls that used to palisade the entire city. It is here that the foundation stone of Jaipur was laid.
